Evil Spring

Spring is mean,
overoptimistic
and naive.

Personified in the Azure Dragon
comes strapped to a wagon
of bright light obscene
irritating my nerve ends
causing synaptic mayhem.

The majestic polar bear must give way for
idiotic bouncy Easter rabbits
because the perma ice is cracking
under his enormous paws
as the world around him thaws.

The birds are singing
their hysterical cacophony
once again spring is bringing
exaggerated frivolity.

Spring comes too fast
and with a light much too harsh
shining from an odd angle
bringing out all imperfections
accentuating dirt and spots,
ignorant of- and even mocking my slowness
too much for my sleepy senses.

Let me linger a little longer
hibernate here and try to become stronger.

Spring is weak and despicable
yet unpredictable
spotting what should be a lush green lawn
with dots of yellow pus made of dandelion.

Spring brings chaos and disorder
to winter's fuzzy cosiness
candles shine bright no more
and the earthy warm colours of winter decor
lose their might
as spring wins the fight.

All that frenetic sprouting
white snow melts away to expose particles of disgust
and dirty windows are shouting
and the air is saturated with asthma-attack dust

Fairies don't wear fur
they're all hiding and waiting for the Vermilion Bird.
