This blog started with an avocado seed.
Avocado's grow slow so my Siamese cat Robert took over for a while.
One of my dreams is a clutter free home with effortless recycling, minimizing waste (especially the waste of food). It HURTS to toss food away.
World-wide about one third of all food that is produced for human use is wasted, and in the industrialized countries about 40% of that waste happen at consumer level (first in the shops, then in people's homes).
It is surprisingly difficult to deal with food left-overs in an appropriate way -or to prevent them - as few people have time to shop groceries everyday.
I love food blogs with beautiful pictures of fresher than fresh vegetables. But then reality is different; I find slimy lettuce and moldy tomatoes in my fridge. The potatoes have ugly spots and have started sprouting.

My mission is to organize my shopping and cooking in such a way that I have reasonably fresh food to serve and also to find ways to use those inevitable left-overs in a clever manner. This blog will describe my journey towards this goal.
But so that it doesn't become too serious, Robert the Cat will keep contributing and we will see what happens with the avocado plant.
